But it did get me reading issue 100 of Dragon magazine.

It the forum section I find a common thread that is still going 20 years later. Role playing in D&D. The advice of Gary Gygax sounds a great deal like the advice Robert Hanz​ gave about FATE. Try running the system as written before you go changing it. Educate yourself on it and become a master of the system before you start changing it.

  1. That is not just true for roleplaying..... You should always give the benefit of the doubt to the game designer when first approaching a game. There is usually a reason why things are the way they are and not some other way.
