Call me old fashioned.

Call me old fashioned.
But i find this to be more of a pickle than the show lets on.

I'm diggin' on some Super Girl.
And i can get behind the weak sister story line and all. But this struck me as odd.

In one episode she runs into the Red Tornado.
An Army android built to kill the likes of Super Man.
He's controlled by a funny hat with LEDs in it.
But when the evil computer programmer is shot in a melee. Special agent whatsherface says that Red Tornado has become sentient.

It went from being a computer to being a person.

Super Girl then blew him up with her Foster Daddy issues.

She just kills him and then the gentle music resumes and we see if she's gonna sleep with that black fella from the news paper.

Seriously?
But i guess this new iteration of the Super Gender franchise is a little loose with the killin' folks.

Oh well, fuck it. It was just a giant leap for mankind and it was destroyed by aliens who recently changed their alignments.

  1. I assumed it was a set up for tornadoes return later on.

  2. There ya go.
In the next episode they have the "Super Man doesn't kill people" speech.

But if the most recent version of Super Man is to be used. He does kill the peons.

Maybe they are using the comic book Super Man. Who doesn't kill folks but manages to be a major shitbrick over the years.

  3. I think the show since has gone a total different direction though.  Doubt well see the tornado return bringing with him the moral question of 'does the computer that wore tennis shoes really alive' even though I think that was the plan at the time.

the show now seems to be turning to a teenie bop show more about who super girl is dating than which villain she will face next.

  4. Perhaps they actually meant it had achieved sapience, rather than sentience? It's a common confusion, and one that I could buy the characters making, if it weren't for supposed brilliant scientist Alex making it, so it might be a mistake made in the writing room in this case.
