If you sit still long enough.

If you sit still long enough.
I'll tell you a tale about the linchpin of civilization.
That my friend is beer.

With the popularization of farming. Incentive was to spread out a bit. To work the land. There were a few reasons to have neighbors, because neighbors are often times assholes.

But, then came. As some would have you believe proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy. Beer.

It wasn't the beer that you or i enjoy in these halcyon days of science. But, let me tell you somethin', it got the job done. Suddenly there was a reason to live next door to your fellow man. They could make beer, and there are many things they will take in trade.

Beer brought us all together. Beer built the first roads. Beer powered the first explorers. Beer made us better people, who could build a better world so that it may contain better bars. And beer.

So next time you drink a beer. Do so with the full knowledge that because of our love of beer. We live in a more peaceful world. A world where you can drink beer and drive race cars. Just not in that order.

Raise a beer, celebrate the great unifier.

  1. The Reinheitsgebot is no longer longer law, no. But breweries tend to take pride in still abiding by it.

  2. Reinheitsgebot was lifted so the french could sell drinks and call them beers. Instead of "Beer Flavored Drinks".

  3. Well, no, it also makes it easier to produce at speed. That's part of the reason the largest export breweries don't adhere to the law.
